Entitlement

Older people have been saying that the young people today seem entitled, but what if they are seeing people who know what they want and how to get it and don't appreciate it when older people insist they are entitled to tell the young people that no, you have to run a stupid maze to prove that you should have what you want..

Herman Cain's Hard Work and Luck

On http://www.hermancain.com/successful-people-are-not-lott Herman Cain makes statements that seem to indicate that he thinks liberals believe that only luck is involved in being successful and furthermore no luck is involved in success. I guess he doesn't believe he is lucky to not be saddled with a handicap. He is completely vague on what his dad did after he left his farm, and must not think he is lucky to be the son of such a dad. For that matter he is completely vague about his own efforts.

Corporate scams

I currently use MetroPCS on a 3G phone. I have tried to view their Terms of Service page in the past, but it had been blank. Recently, I've been getting texts that I have used up the 4G data for the month. How can you use any 4G data on a 3G phone? You may be getting charged 4G speeds without getting it, but how would you know?

Recently I received a phone call from Telecheck saying that I owe them a $20 return check fee from a few months ago when Amazon claimed that I owed them $15 but later admitted they were wrong. There was never any check. When I called them back they claimed to have found another $20 fee to stick me with. Telecheck thinks it can refuse to accept my statement over the phone or the internet and insists that it must have me send it a form in the mail. Well, it's not getting its form or the money it wants to steal from me. Unrelated to the $15 snafu, Amazon wants me to send them a FAX to unblock my payments account.

Typing this on my phone reminded me of the autocomplete/autocorrect problem. Why is it so broken?

Water shortage solution at hand?

According to http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/05/02/water_vs_energy_analysis/ desalinization plants have come of age and are currently suitable for solving water shortage problems. The article also suggests that politicians could allocate the funds to deploy this solution but just don't want to. Take this information to your representative and senators, pronto.

Valid success? What to look for.

The Republicans assert that the questioning of the success of the bankers is completely unwarranted. Well success comes primarily from innate skill and things that can be taught. Innate skill is hard to gauge, but usually you can see a range of success at a given task such as basketball among those who are not at the peak of innate ability. Such a range has not been observed and the instructional material has not been made available, so to those without an agenda it is obvious that the legitimacy of the success of the bankers is subject to question.

Banned from a forum unfairly?

Recently I received an infraction orht 10 points from city-data.com forums because they mistook me for someone they banned before, which is apparently itself a ban. I attempted to contact them twice at others@city-data.com and once at legal@city-data.com with no response. According to http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20120107092100AAiJp7D I'm not alone in being mistreated by them. I recommend you not use them because of this. Does anyone out there have ay other forum websites they think people should avoid because of such mistreatment?

Take Capital Gains to 0? The same logic applied to other taxes.

Herman Cain said that we should take the  capital gains tax to zero because it is a barrier between those with money and those with ideas. Well how about the income tax? It's a barrier between those who want to work and those who want to provide jobs which is an amalgamation of the idea and money people. What about the sales tax? It is a barrier between those who have money to buy a product, the sole reason for a product to exist in the first place, and the people with ideas, and workers. Clearly this is the most heinous of all the taxes, since it taxes the raison d'ĂȘtre of products.

Perhaps the fairest of taxes is the property tax, but that is a barrier to right to property. But perhaps raison d'ĂȘtre trumps rights?

Free Israel from the Tyranny of the Palestinians.

Free Israel from the tyranny of the Palestinians! Explain to me how I have it the wrong way around. It's the Palestinians that always attack the Israelis and Israel only retaliates. Israel also lets the Palestinians in the area know that they are going to retaliate. It's the Palestinians that don't want the Israelis around not the other way around. Israel provides jobs to many Palestinians.

Ahmed Abdelkarim
I'm a Palestinian who lives apart from my country because of the war with Israel. Most of my family suffered killing and torture by claiming the right to live free and honored

Robert Claypool
And who started the war? The Palestinian government. Israel is willing for peace, the Palestinian government has never been. It wants to push Israel into the sea.

Michael Leonardi
Don't worry Coldplay, this Zionist rampage will fizzle out in a week or two, seems like every decent musical group in the world is boycotting the state of Israel nowadays. It is just so unfortunate that so many young Israelis have been brainwashed and indoctrinated into this blind patriotism nationalism and racism. You'd think the world could evolve past national borders, flags and religion -- hopefully it still can...

Robert Claypool
What about the Palestinians that have been brainwashed into blind patriotism, nationalism and racism?

Michael Leonardi
Haven't met any. I've met a lot of freedom fighters though... apartheid really sucks man...

Robert Claypool It is the Palestinians that want apartheid with Israel. Israel wants peace and even offers Palestinians jobs.

Eman Bensreiti
If you want peace stop killing people. Long live Palestine. Long live Gaza.

Robert Claypool
Then why does the Palestinians constantly fire rockets on Israel from the Golan Heights? When Israel held the Golan Heights, they did not fire rockets on the Palestinians.

Mustafa Afghan
Jews, Muslim, Christians always lives peacefully in Palestine before the state of Israel. After the State of Israel nothing is peaceful anymore, in fact the massacre has increased. Truly sad to call them humans. Israel willing for peace? they don't mean peace, they want everything their own way and call it peace.

Robert Claypool
Source? Also, that was when the British were in control. Are you saying that the British should be back in control? Also, that says nothing about whose fault it is. I have heard more that the Palestinians want everything their own way including all Jews dead, than I have heard of Israel wanting everything their own way. Do you have links to any stories?

Mukz Ali
Israel has an army, and they don't know how to use it.

Robert Claypool
What do you mean? Do you mean that if they knew how to use it all the Palestinians would be dead? That doesn't sound right to me.

Homosexuals say that they should be able to marry anyone they want, just like heterosexuals. But heterosexuals can't marry anyone they want. They cannot marry a person of the same sex anymore than homosexuals can. Sexual orientation is merely one factor in deciding who can get married to who.

The MPAA said:
illegal downloads cost the U.S. economy more than $20 billion a year

Yeah sure. Like food pantries and Freecycle cost the economy.

Can't let people get food without paying for it.
Cash for clunkers too, maybe?

Drain on the economy how much again?

The Google search http://www.google.com/search?q=music+piracy+economy
returns results about claims of piracy "robs the United States of $12.5 billion in economic output and more than 71000 jobs annually"

Extending that logic, public libraries, food pantries, and Freecycle must be robbing the United States of a lot of money, er, make that "economic output and jobs" too.

Fifth-third commercials

Is this what Fifth-Third Bank thinks of its potential customers?

Party (Don't be that guy)
Do they really think their customers need Fifth-Third in order to not be that guy? Sounds insulting to me.

Snuggies and not paying the electric bill

I was going to hunt down and link to every commercial on my own, but they all seem to be collected:

dontbethatguykyle

But really, do you want to go to a bank that thinks so little of you that they believe that without their help you'd turn into "one of those guys"?

Meritline.com ps2 controller device driver

I bought a Playstation 2 controller to PC adapter from Meritline.com. The computer found drivers for it, so I left it like that. I finally got around to inserting the driver disc and the filenames on it were cryptic. Not only that, Microsoft Security Essentials found what it thinks is a password stealer in 2008U+P.exe

The filenames are:
2008U+P.exe
PU302+305+303.exe
PU815+PU817.exe
PU2008+819+850.exe
pu2008D.exe

A little bit about the uproar in Arizona

There are some people who are up in arms about having to "show your papers" in Arizona. All drivers are already required to have their "papers" on them. It's called a driver's license.

Google Chrome

So I've been using the Google Chrome browser and have found some odd faults.
1. Behaves odd with Hotmail. If, after logging in, you go back to the login screen and hit refresh the main logged in page shows up.
2. Tabs that have spilled off to the side are unreachable with the mouse.
3. The minimize/restore/close buttons get covered by tabs and don't work even when they aren't covered.
4. After clicking the back button it doesn't always go to the place in the page you were on.
